***Vision of Equality in Hindsight ***
**I see myself in you.**
**I find myself in you because you reflect**
**what I am the most afraid...**
**In death, we are all equal**
**in life, we try so hard to compete in this thing**
**we call the Human Race**
**we compete--**
**with our gifts, with our weaknesses--**
**we step forward to turn our weaknesses into strengths--**
**to surpass the others-- to leave them in the dust--**
**not realizing we are in some way, the same...**
**In death, we are all equal**
**We spend our lives competing for a better quality of life--**
**When we fail to teach each other how to live--**
**This tells me I have failed as a human being**
**because I could not see myself in you while you were standing before me.**
**I cannot fathom the soul that I am, as Hippocrates once said, the soul**
**is the same, but in a different body--**
**This assures me more and more in this moment---**
**That in Death, we are all equal...**
